The San Marco Hotel is one of the oldest buildings in Chandler, Arizona. It was opened on November 22, 1913. Now it is in downton Chandler right next to Dr. Alexander Chandler Park. Back in 1887 it was Dr. Chandler who came to Arizona to become the first veterinary surgeon for the Territory. Later he built a modern irrigation system and established a prosperous town. Now Dr. Chandler is known as the poineer in the science of irrigation engineering in the region, the builder of the San Marcos Hotel and the founder of the Town of Chandler (1912). The first grocery store in Chandler was open in 1912, Chandler Motor Car Company was established in 1913. Growing cotton and raising farm animals were the main occupations of the local population back at the beginning of the 20th century.  Posted by Hello
