Chicago, March 12, 2005 This house was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and was biult in 1908-1909. It was his belief that home is a sanctuary from the whole world and that is why the architecture and furniture of the houses that he designed were marked by the sign of privacy. He used plants to bring nature into the house. There is a tree in the middle of Robie House. The Robie Family moved in that house in 1910 and they spent only 18 months there as Lora and Frederick's marriage fell apart. Now this house is the property of University of Chicago. Its reconstruction and maintenance are very expensive. The reconstruction is going on and both on the outside and on the inside the Frank Llloyd Wright Preservation Trust has 8 million US dollars to spend. We visited Robie House with a group of 8 other tourists. Four languages were spoken in our group of ten: English, French, Bulgarian and Russian. It was a sunny, cold and windy Saturday in Chicago on March 12, 2005 and we enjoyed our visit to Robie House. We decided to visit Oak Park, where the architect lived from 1889 till 1909, and see more of Frank Llloyd Wright houses and especially his home and studio. Posted by Hello
